Basics of Web 2.0 Acronyms or Evolution of our CQ

January 15, 2010 by 2 Comments

Having been in the online world for 18 years, if I hear one more acronym I am going to hurl myself onto my Uggs. Are we all so pressed for time that we cannot use our breath to articulate a complete phrase? Must it all be SMO, SEO, and SMS?

Using my happy study of biomimicry, nature shows us the pattern and process of extinction. New niches evolve in order to adapt to a changing environment. We all thrive, or diminish, based on these burgeoning traits. It is a wonderful thought – centering in its clearness – that we can all reconnect with our natures. We all, truly, come from a similar origin.

Web 2.0 is does not have the patterns of extinction. 2.0 is an evolving pattern of dynamic digital communication. So, of course it isn’t going to die, but it will evolve. If web 3.0 is semantic web and 4.0 is relevant web, then I am probably safe in declaring 10.0 will probably be the intelligent web as by then all forms of communication will be totally interconnected and integrated PLUS, most exciting of all, it’ll incorporate the many different learning styles I love so much.

So…here’s to the revolution of communication evolution. One day we WILL have Communication Intelligence. Perhaps some of us have it already. Or are learning, bit by bit, to develop. Both are delightful prospects I look forward to learning more about. I hope you will, too, and will check back every so often.

We are neck deep in some very exciting changes. What will come next? Will we know it when we see it? What will the new face of media look like? The potential is intoxicating.

By the way, my CQ is coming along nicely, thanks to the numerous intelligent and not so intelligent comments (both private and public) I continue to gratefully receive.
